ABOUT ALMA ATELIER.

  • ALMA Atelier began with a single piece of leftover fabric from a photo shoot. That fabric became a robe, made by a local seamstress — and that robe became the starting point for everything that followed.

From that one garment, ALMA grew into a full-fledged design studio. Our first major project was Mecenas, a bar in Guadalajara, Mexico, where we created everything from the interior design to the chairs, tables, cups, uniforms, and even managed construction. The project proved that we could produce at a high level across multiple categories, from furniture to apparel to custom objects.

That experience inspired our first official collection — Collection Vol. 1 — and shaped the foundation of what ALMA Atelier is today. Led by Creative Director Craig Hackey, originally from the USA, and frequent collaborator Ronza “Ronnie” Arias, an architect and designer from Guadalajara, ALMA continues to evolve as a multidisciplinary studio creating pieces that combine utility, craft, and character.

  • To design and produce furniture, garments, and objects that blend timeless style with everyday function. We work in Mexico to celebrate its beauty, champion its craft traditions, and collaborate with the people who carry them forward. Our goal is to share a modern vision of Mexico — one that changes perceptions and shows the depth, skill, and creativity found here.

  • We believe great design takes time. Every ALMA Atelier piece begins with research, conversation, and exploration — understanding how it will be used, where it will live, and what story it will tell. From there, we move through sketches, prototypes, and refinements until the balance between form, function, and detail feels right.

Our work draws on both traditional techniques and modern technology. We collaborate with skilled artisans who use time-honored methods, while also embracing advanced tools and processes that allow for precision, innovation, and efficiency. This combination lets us create products that honor craft heritage while meeting the needs of contemporary life.

By taking the time to get it right, we ensure every piece not only looks and performs beautifully on day one, but will continue to do so for years to come.

  • We are based in Guadalajara, Mexico — a city known for its creative energy, architectural history, and rich traditions. Being here allows us to stay close to the artisans, workshops, and manufacturers who bring our designs to life. It also connects us to a network of materials, skills, and cultural influences that shape our perspective and define our work.

Producing locally means we can collaborate directly with our partners, maintain high standards of quality, and reinvest in the communities we believe in. Guadalajara isn’t just where we work — it’s a constant source of inspiration and a core part of our identity.

Mexico offers a richness of culture and skill that cannot be replicated elsewhere — from the precision of metalwork to the warmth of handwoven textiles. Working locally not only gives us the ability to design across categories with flexibility and speed, it also lets us reinvest in the communities we believe in. For ALMA, producing in Mexico is more than a method — it’s part of our purpose.

This process results in products that carry both substance and style — functional enough for daily use, yet distinctive enough to define a space.

  • Our clients include boutique hotels, restaurants, and creative studios, as well as interior designers and individuals searching for unique, high-quality pieces. We work on both small and large scales — from a single signature object to an entire furnishing concept for a hospitality space.

No matter the size of the project, our goal is the same: to deliver products that reflect the client’s vision while maintaining the highest standards of design and craftsmanship.
